  1. 6The need for seafarers to contact their loved ones has not changed but the means to do so has. That means is the cell phone and it requires Wi-Fi.

What has changed is the need for the Seafarer Centres to be mindful of the changing world and how it impacts seafarers behaviour.

That in mind a few tools, a coat of paint and Canadian scenes on canvas on the wall and the side room at the centre which before housed computers and telephones was transformed into an area for seafarers to access through the side door 24/7 for the sole purpose of utilizing the free Wi-Fi provided.

Given that seafarers come from all over the world and arrive in port at all hours this flexibility has been a help to and as they have said appreciated by them.
