I hear and I have caught myself saying it that the world today with disease and we are dealing with the coronavirus, wars and adverse weather, is a scary and uncertain place.
In no way to take away from any of this and the suffering it causes people there has not been a time in history when the same could not be said.
As I meet with seafarers at our centres or on the ships they like many people are feeling anxious but in their case it is on top of what is already a stressful, dangerous and lonely job.
At times such as these it is important we think of those on the front lines and I consider seafarers among them, along with of course nurses, care givers etc.
These are brave poeple who sacrifice so that others do not go without but receive what they need and that includes you and I.
It only seems right then esp. given the coronavirus that each of us responds by saying thanks in coming alongside them in person, in prayer, or in both and by doing what is needed, that is washing our hands, not touching our faces, being responsible towards others.
It is truly a gift we can give each other by being thoughtful, generous, compassionate, selfless and loving.
Try it and for sure the world will be a better, less scary place.
