The International  Day of the Seafarer is celebrated annually on 25 June to express thanks to the world’s 1,5 million seafarers serving on internationally trading merchant ships thereby contributing to the world economy and economic and social well-being.

The theme for 2023 is 'MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on' highlighting the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), which covers prevention of pollution of the marine environment by ships from operational or accidental causes.

Seafarers onboard deserve to work for companies that value their safety and the marine environment in which they operate. They need the tools to be able to implement international standards and so in an already stressful work place they  need our support and advocacy.

The Mission to Seafarers at both our centres and onboard the ships will make sure over the weekend of June 24/25 that seafarers feel appreciated as we always strive to do.
